Nature Boy

After I found the Salamander in the window well, Carson and the girls got in to try to capture it.
At first we thought it might be a lizard that would be hard to catch, but it was a slow salamander and very easy to catch, hold and observe.  He was a pretty big guy, too.
On his very first day of Kindergarten Carson found a praying mantis on the porch and let him crawl on his arm before he had to leave.
Love this expression.  It's like he knows he's an amazing explorer and holding this praying mantis is no big deal for a nature boy like him.
Notice the grasshopper hanging on his ear?
And I saved the best for last--a Gardener snake he found at our neighbor's house!  Boy was he proud of this find.  He even took it to Great Grammy's house that night and kept it in a bowl right by him until we made him put it outside before bed.

Carson is basically not afraid of anything (which is good and bad).  He loves being outside no matter the weather and is definitely our little explorer.  It's so fun to see his discoveries and watch his excitement.
