Two years ago...my ankles looked like stove pipes...
and we were filled with anticipation for the arrival of our first baby...
a wonderful baby boy whom we had been hoping for for a long time.
Then he arrived, and changed our lives forever. Back then we couldn't ever even imagine him walking and talking and two years seemed like a long time. It came though in what seemed like the blink of an eye. Now, we can hardly remember him when he couldn't walk and talk. Good thing we have all these pictures to remember every special moment with our Carson man.

For his birthday he had homemade oreos-yum, yum
He was showered with gifts...
and love.
This year he loved blowing out the candles rather than crying at them like last year. :)
TWO!? How is it even possible? How does time escape us so quickly? How does a tiny baby learn and grow so much so fast? How do you fall deeper in love every day for two years and still want more?
I don't know. The love we feel for our kids is pretty amazing--the most powerful love we've ever known. Carson is our first, so we learn together as he grows. He'll always hold a special place all his own in our hearts and we feel blessed beyond measure to be his mommy and daddy and to get to hang out with him everyday.
Two is a pretty cool age. Everything changes. All of a sudden the "terrible twos" hit and everything is HARDER. Luckily the "terrific twos" arrive as well and make everything that much more FUN!
His biggest accomplishment lately has been learning to talk. It is one of our favorite things to hear his sweet words. In March he started learning roughly one word per week. His first official word was probably "Ball". Some other firsts were car, yes, dad, mommy, cookie, cake, uh-oh, fall, more, no, two, six, yummy, bug, hi, bye, cheese, bo bo, bee, yay, go, help, tent, eyes, and me. Now he's up to about 110 words and learns more everyday. He repeats most words we say.
So we don't forget his cute pronunciations: "Cruck" (truck), "Mommay" (mommy), "Dah" (Dad), "Diss" (Dixie), "Fahrssee" (horse), "Peen" (plane), "Quee" (Lightning McQueen), "Gwink" (drink), "Noke" (Milk), "Jeesee" (Jesus)
Things Carson likes at 2 years: anything with wheels, being outside, climbing on anything and everything, talking up a storm and learning new words, being chased by mommy and daddy, getting tickled, candy, cake and cookies, hugs and kisses and he doesn't just like his binkies he absolutely loves his binkies. We've tried to get rid of them once and failed miserably. That boy is determined to suck on a binky. Thankfully, he also loves his baby sister! He gets cuter and cuter with her all the time. Today I caught him trying to make her stop crying by entertaining her the best way he knew how--sticking his tongue out and jumping off of couches (and it worked!). haha
Things Carson dislikes at 2 years: he's never liked his feet being covered. He'll wear shoes now, but he still hates blankets or towels on his feet and he only wears socks and shoes outside. Carson is a very snuggly little guy and doesn't like to go to sleep without us. We've been working on this and he's getting better at falling asleep on his own, but then he always comes to sleep with us during the night. It gets a little squishy in our full size bed, but we love cuddling with him too.
Happy Birthday Buddy! We love you to the moon and back.
Love,
Mommy and Daddy.
